Crowns
Crowns are custom made caps for your teeth which can increase strength and support as well as improving the aesthetics of the tooth. They are often recommended if a tooth is weakened by a very large filling or root canal treatment.
With many people keeping their natural teeth for much longer, we often find that patients are presenting with heavily filled and structurally compromised teeth. These teeth are often vulnerable to irreparable fractures and cracks that can ultimately lead to loss of tooth. Crowns are extremely valuable in protecting such teeth and ensuring they remain in your mouth for longer!
Some of the main benefits of crown treatment include:
- The protection of heavily filled and old teeth
- Preventing and repairing of cracks and fractures
- The restoration and maintenance of your natural bite
- Prevention of stress on your other teeth
- Prevention of shifting and tilting of adjacent teeth
- Prevention of periodontal disease or further decay of the remaining teeth
- Enhancement of your smile, speech and chewing function
The Process
Our dentists will always take an x-ray of the teeth beforehand to ensure it is structurally sound and minimise treatment complications. We also confirm the shade of the adjacent teeth to ensure your crown is perfectly colour matched.
Using state of the art dental materials we then take an accurate mould of the prepared tooth. This is then express posted to our Australian based lab to start making your crown or bridge. Once the impression is done, your dentist will cover the tooth with a temporary version of the crown. Its only purpose is to protect the underlying preparation and will not look or feel like the final product. It is important to take care of the tooth until the final crown is fitted.
Once your crown arrives in the clinic we will call you immediately to make an insertion appointment. The process of fitting the crown is very simple, as the temporary is carefully removed, then the final crown is permanently cemented! This short appointment is the final stage of your crown.
Bridges
Bridges provide a fast and efficient solution for gaps created by missing teeth in the mouth. They simply use the teeth adjacent to the missing tooth as anchors, thus giving a fixed permanent options for the space.
Bridges provide a fast and efficient solution for gaps created by missing teeth in the mouth. They simply use the teeth adjacent to the missing tooth as anchors, thus giving a fixed permanent options for the space. Our highly skilled dentists use only the most recent technology available as well as working with Australian based dental laboratories. This is to ensure that your bridge is made with the best material and to the highest standard. The process in which we create the bridge is almost identical to that of the crown and takes the same amount of procedure time.
The treatment process for a bridge is near identical to that of the crown mentioned above, after the initial consult for the bridge, the anchor teeth are prepared, an impression is taken, the lab fabricate the bridge, and finally the bridge is cemented.
Some of the main benefits of a bridge treatment include:
- The protection of heavily filled and old teeth
- Preventing and repairing of cracks and fractures
- Replacement of missing tooth/teeth

Veneers
Veneers are a fast and efficient way to improve your smile. The two of the most common types of veneer materials are Porcelain and Composite. Veneers are thin faces/shells that are bonded to the front of your teeth to improve the smile whilst at the same time providing strength and resilience that can be compared to your tooth’s natural enamel.
Veneers are primarily considered to be a cosmetic procedure, however it is important to note they can also strengthen weak teeth, as well as have the advantage of requiring less tooth reduction than a crown.
The Process
At your initial consult, we will attain what your end goal for your smile is. We will then decide on the shade and shape of the veneers you wish to have. We may also suggest whitening your teeth prior to commencing treatment to enhance the final result.
Porcelain veneers involve minimal removal of enamel from the tooth. Nonetheless, it is still permanent removal of natural tooth structure and we always plan and strive to be as conservative as possible with our preparation. The preparation appointment will be the longest appointment in the process. Once the teeth have been prepared, an impression is taken to send to one of our laboratories. The dentist will then place temporary veneers over your teeth which will protect the underlying prepared teeth until the final veneers are ready to cement.
Once the Veneers have arrived in the clinic we will call you immediately to make an insertion appointment. The first step of this appointment is to carefully remove the temporary veneer and then clean the underlying teeth. Your permanent veneers are then bonded to the tooth through a very specific process to ensure the strongest adhesion between the teeth and veneers.
As with all patients we will expect you to attend your 6 monthly oral health maintenance checks-up, as well as wear a protective night guard whilst sleeping – this will prevent any damage done by grinding in your sleep to your new smile.
